Festive Finances Day 5 - Savings

For Day 5 of Festive Finances, we will be looking at saving for Christmas.
With just under 9 weeks until Christmas, it is not too late to get some savings under your belt in time for Santa coming. If you put aside £5 each day until Christmas, you will have £45. This could cover the cost of your Christmas dinner!
Saving can be difficult, but having a small amount of money kept in aside is a good idea. It can give you a small safety net if something breaks down or can mean that you don't have to worry about life events such as birthdays, holidays or even next Christmas. If you started putting aside £5 a week, this time next year you would have £260 saved away! What could you cut out which would help to make this achievable? A takeaway? A to-go coffee?
If you are looking to open a savings account, one of the best places to go is a Credit Union. They are a safe place to put your money, they are local, and can offer other products and benefits such as borrowing and dividends.
